Fish merchant arrested, P316-K illegal drugs seized

A FISH merchant was arrested while more than P300,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the police reported on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspect as Edwin Sabalan, 47, a resident of Corporation Drive in Canelar village.

Lorenzo said that Sabalan was arrested in a buy-bust around 11:42 p.m. Monday, October 2, at Artesano Drive in Canelar village.

Lorenzo said seized from Sabalan were some 46.5 grams of suspected shabu packed in seven heat-sealed plastic sachets worth P316,200, a coin purse, and P200 marked money.

He said the buy-bust was launched following surveillance on the illegal activities of the suspect.

He said the suspect was detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against him. (SunStar Zamboanga)
