Fishing boat, 13 crew apprehended

AUTHORITIES have apprehended a fishing boat and its 13 crewmen for illegal fishing in the waters off Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Sunday, July 15.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office reported that the apprehension was made around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, in the municipal waters of Tungawan.

A joint team of policemen, soldiers and municipal environment and natural resources office personnel was on seaborne patrol when they spotted a fishing boat, F/B Yan-Yan 2, engaged in illegal fishing.

The police identified the crewmen of F/B Yan-Yan 2 as follows: Dino Salipot, 47; Epefanio Pilapil, 63; Ian Tecson, 23; Jeffrey Monde, 19; Lolito Milado, 52; Gemar Arcenal, 23; Jorey Albarico, 32; Ruben Loyloy, 19; Dennis Pilapil, 27; Edwin Atiola, 46; Arman Pacto, 27; Ambrosio Malinao, 55; and, Julius Ebanio, 30.

The crewmen, who are all residents of Ipil town, and the fishing paraphernalia were turned over to the police in Tungawan for appropriate action.
