Flash flood inundates 2 Zamboanga Sur villages

TWETNY families were affected by flash flood spawned by heavy downpour on Friday in Tukuran village, Zamboanga del Sur, the police said Saturday, July 28, 2018.

The Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office said the affected families were residents of the villages of Camanga and Upper Bayao, Tukuran town.

The police said the flash flood occurred around 4:40 p.m. after the Camanga River swelled and overflowed brought about by heavy downpour due to inclement weather condition.

The flood, which was measured at one meter, has inundated rice fields, 20 residential houses and destroyed some of the road railings.

The estimated cost of damage was placed at P50,000. There was no reported casualty.

The police of Tukuran town in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee have provided assistance to the 20 affected families.
