Fugitive farmer yields bomb-making components

LAWMEN have seized bomb-making components, illegal drugs and firearm when they arrested a farmer in a law enforcement operation in a remote town in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Wednesday, September 4.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested farmer as Ismun Asgali Bantala, 36, who has standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder.

Galvez said Bantala was arrested after being served a warrant of arrest around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in th of Panganuran village, Sibuco town, Zamboanga del Norte.

Galvez said the arresting team confiscated from Bantala’s possession the following: 1.5 kilos ammonium nitrate; 2.5 meters detonating cord; 14 pieces blasting caps; a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition; ammunition for M-16 Armalite rifle, caliber .357 revolver, and 9-mm pistol; a two-way radio transceiver; a sachet of suspected shabu; and, assorted drug paraphernalia.

She said the suspect was temporarily placed under the custody of the police in Sibuco town. (SunStar Philippines)
