THE Project Good Life students, called Friends Rescued (FRs), of the Army's 53rd Infantry "Matapat" Battalion (IB), have undergone a two-day training courses on Community-Based Disaster and Risk Reduction Management (CBDRRM).

The CBDRRM training course was held by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional office in Pagadian City from August 26 to 27.

The 53IB said the training is a process in which at-risk communities are actively engaged in the identification, analysis, treatment, monitoring, and evaluation of disaster risks in order to reduce their vulnerabilities and enhance their capacities.

Project Good Life for FRs is an inclusive well-being psychoeducation program initiated by 53IB in partnership with various organizations and national government agencies that aims to translate the result of initial strength-based research inquiry among former New People Army (NPA) rebels who yielded to the 53IB.

The 53IB said it is a need-based program for FRs to support Executive Order 70 signed by the President that institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation approach to end local communist armed conflict in the country. (SunStar Zamboanga)
