Gunmen kill village official in Basilan

A VILLAGE official was killed in a gun attack by motorcycle-riding gunmen in the province of Basilan, the police said Friday, March 8.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Pensinsula director, said the incident happened around 8 p.m. Thursday in Doña Ramona village, Isabela City, Basilan.

Licup said the victim, Jimnu Ladja Hamad, was driving a motorcycle on the way home when fatally shot by one of two men riding on another motorcycle that tailed the victim.

He said Hamad, the village chief of Marang-Marang, Isabela City, died instantaneously.

The police official said recovered at the crime scene was an empty shell of caliber .45 pistol.
