HVT drug suspect nabbed

POLICE operatives have arrested a high-value target (HVT) and seized more than P40,000 worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation Wednesday, December 15, in Zamboanga City.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified on Thursday, December 16, the arrested suspect as Joarth Alvarez, 30, a resident of Victoria village, Zamboanga City.

Chang said Alvarez is on top of the illegal drugs watchlist of the Zamboanga City Police Office’s (ZCPO) Station 3.

She added that Alvarez was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, at Casumpang drive in San Jose-Cawa-Cawa village.

Seized from Alvarez were P40,800 worth of shabu packed in eight heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, a coin purse, and P1,400 marked money consisting of one P1,000 and two P200 bills.

Chang said a case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect. (SunStar Zamboanga)
