Laborer drowns on New Year’s Day

A LABORER drowned while swimming together with his friends on New Year’s Day in Labason town, Zamboanga del Norte province, the police said Thursday, January 03.

The Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office identified the victim a Michael Manaris, 34, a resident of Baga, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The police said that Manaris, who was drunk, was swept by current while swimming together with his friends around 4 p.m. on January 1 at Mabilog Beach in Malintuboan village, Labason.

The police said Manaris’ friends tried to rescue him but proved futile.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit.
