Man dead, 1 hurt in head-on collision

A 75-YEAR-OLD man died while another was injured in a head-on collision along the highway, west of Zamboanga City, the police reported on Monday, January 1.

Senior Inspector Shellamie Chang, Zamboanga City Police Office information officer, identified the fatality as Agapito Picandal, who died while undergoing medical treatment in a private hospital.

Chang identified the wounded as Ismael Borongan, 49, who was admitted at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Chang said investigation showed the collision occurred at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, December 30, in the village of Talisayan, Zamboanga City, when Picandal encroached the opposite lane while driving a motorcycle along the highway.

She said Borongan, who was cruising on the opposite lane, was driving motorized tricycle at the time of the incident.
