THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula installed on Monday, January 17, a new senior officer to lead the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director.

Installed by Police Brigadier General Franco Simborio, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, as the new ZCPO director is Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, replacing Police Colonel Rexmel Reyes.

Lorenzo said he will activate a Technical Working Group (TWG) to conduct the assessment and to determine whether there will be enhancement or innovation to implement.

"The first thing I will do is to assess whether there is a need to enhance the security measures," Lorenzo said.

There are 11 police stations and two mobile force companies that are under the jurisdiction of the ZCPO covering Zamboanga City’s 98 villages, eight of which are island villages.

Lorenzo said the internal cleansing will be part of his focus as the new ZCPO director.

Reyes expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the stakeholders for the assistance given to the ZCPO during his stint as the city director.

Simborio awarded the Medalya ng Pambihirang Paglilingkod (PNP Special Service Medal) to Reyes for his sterling leadership in guiding the ZCPO in accomplishing the PNP vision and mission.

Reyes was reassigned to Camp Crame, home of the PNP headquarters. (SunStar Zamboanga)
