SOME 300 residents of Mampang village, Zamboanga City benefitted Wednesday, June 9, from the gift-giving activity of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM).

Rear Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr., NFWM commander, said the activity is in support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) Kapwa ko Sagot ko program and is part of the celebration of the 123rd Philippine Navy Anniversary, which was commemorated on May 18.

Adaci said the recipients who were affected by the health pandemic received assorted grocery packs containing rice, canned goods, noodles, hygiene kits, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Adaci said the activity was held along with the NFWM’s partner stakeholders, namely, Sheila Bangayan of Kiwanis Club La Bella Zamboangueña, Dr. John Hernani Anacan of Rotary Club Zamboanga City West and Ben Naser Isnain of the Integrated Resource Development for Tri-People.

The other partner stakeholders of the activity include the Gawad Kalinga, Mindanao Humanitarian Volunteers for Peace, 91st Marine Battalion Reserve, Philippine Navy Affiliated Reserved Units in Western Mindanao, AMR Fishing Company, ACDI Multi-Purpose Cooperative, AFPSLAI Zamboanga, MLhuillier Zambasulta, and Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines-Zamboanga.

“The activity demonstrates the willingness of the armed forces in partnership with local government units and civilian partner stakeholders to help our kababayans who are affected by the pandemic,” Adaci said.

The activity was conducted following existing health protocols to avoid the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). (SunStar Zamboanga)
