NPA rebel nabbed in Zambo Sur town

AN ALLEGED member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in an operation in Zamboanga del Sur province, the police said Tuesday, March 12.

Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested NPA rebel as Saturnino Calayca, 39, a member of the Section Committee Kara of the NPA’s Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee.

Licup said Calayca was arrested after being served a warrant of arrest at 6:20 p.m. Monday at Purok 5 in Ocapan village, San Miguel town.

He added that Calayca has standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder with no recommended bail issued on July 30, 2009 by the court of Pagadian City.
