Over 13,000 new voters register in Zamboanga City

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that some 13,538 new voters have registered as the registration resumed August 1.

Lawyer Jan Christian Babiera, second district election officer, said that 6,721 of the 13,538 voters registered in the first district while the remaining 6,817 in the second district.

Babiera said they expect that more people will register on the next succeeding days. The registration is for both the regular voters and for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).

The registration of voters, which started August 1, is set to end on September 30. The resumption of registration of voters is in preparation for the 2020 village and SK elections.

Babiera said they also accommodate transfer and reactivation of voter registration as well as correction of records.

He said the registration is being held at the city election office during office hours from Monday until Thursday.

He added they conduct satellite voters registration in the the villages from Friday until Saturday. (SunStar Philippines)
