LAWMEN have seized some P200,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes in the province of Lanao del Sur, a top police official said Thursday, August 4, 2022.

Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, said no one was arrested as the people behind the shipment of smuggled cigarettes fled upon sensing the arriving policemen.

Verceles said the contraband goods were seized around 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, at the shore of Sitio Pimbawangan in Biosong village, Picong, Lanao del Sur.

He said the shipment was intercepted after the operating policemen received information that a motorboat just landed at the shore of Sitio Pimbawangan in Biosong village.

Verceles said the smuggled cigarettes consisting of 20 master cases and the motorboat were turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
