AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested two suspected big-time drug personalities and seized some P3.4 million worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, a top PDEA official said Monday, December 16.

PDEA acting regional director Edgar Jubay identified the arrested suspects as Omar Mhuktar Mahamud, 40, of Zamboanga Sibugay; and Alih Jain, 40, of this city.

Jubay said Mahamud and Jain were arrested in a drug bust around 6 p.m. Sunday in front of a fast food chain along La Purisima Street, Zone III Village, this city.

He said seized from the possession of the two were a half kilo of suspected shabu worth P3.4 million, nine bundles of boodle money- one of which was topped with a genuine P1,000 bill utilized as drug bust money, sling bags, a hand grenade, live caliber .45 ammunition, and cellular phones.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of explosive and ammunition will be filed against the suspects detained, Jubay added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
