Police hunt village official

POLICE have launched a manhunt against a village official tagged as responsible for a shooting incident that wounded one person in Zamboanga del Norte.

The subject of the manhunt is Gani Waja, village chief of Balonkan, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said Waja was tagged as the one who shot Arconado Banguih Saing, 45, around 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019, in the village of Lubok, Sirawai.

Saing, who sustained five gunshot wounds, is being treated at the Siocon District Hospital. His wife Jamjariah was unharmed during the attack.

Galvez said investigation showed the village official allegedly shot the victim and his wife while they were on the way to the mosque to pray.

She said Waja fled after the incident.
