Police nab crime group member

A SUSPECTED member of a crime syndicate, who is also a high-value target (HVT) drug personality, was arrested in an intelligence-driven law enforcement operation in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Rasheed Enriquez Prontoza, 27, who has been considered the number 3 priority target on illegal drugs and a member of the Barahama Ali crime group.

Galvez said Prontoza was arrested around 7:10 p.m. Sunday in Purok Santan in San Pedro village, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The suspect has a pending warrant of arrest with no recommended bail for violation of Republic Act 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) issued on May 15, 2020 by the court of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The suspect is now under the temporary custody of the Naga municipal police station for proper disposition, said Galvez. (SunStar Zamboanga)
