Police ready charges vs engineer gun slay suspect

THE police are readying criminal charges to be filed against a construction worker tagged as responsible in the killing of a project engineer on Wednesday in Isabela City, Basilan.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the suspect as Nurhasan Sarri, a worker of the Triple H construction firm and a resident of Maligue village, Isabela City, Basilan.

Licup said Sarri was identified as the one who shot and killed Engineer Elvin Sabdulla, 44, around 10 a.m. Wednesday in Cabunbata village, Isabela City.

Sabdulla, a project engineer of the Triple H construction firm, was inspecting the road construction project when repeatedly shot by one of two men riding on a motorcycle that passed by the project site.

The Triple H Construction Firm based in Lamitan City, Basilan, is implementing a government road construction project in Isabela City.

Licup said the motive of the incident was believed to be personal grudge as the victim and the suspect had a heated altercation prior to the incident. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
