THE personnel have been ordered to fulfill their mandate to the people and to maintain peace and order during the yuletide season.

This was the message of Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula director, during the official opening of the yuletide season Monday night, December 2, at Camp Colonel Romeo Abendan, which houses the regional police headquarters here.

The official opening of the yuletide celebration was marked with the simultaneous lighting of Christmas tree and lanterns at Camp Abendan.

Police Major Helen Galvez, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said Tuesday this year’s advocacy of the command is anchored on eco-friendly celebration of the yuletide season to help save Mother Earth.

Galvez said there are 19 entries in the lantern competition. The lanterns were made by the personnel using recyclable and compostable materials.

Winners in the lantern competition will be announced during the command’s Christmas party on December 18, she added.

The police officer said cash prizes are at stake for the three major winners of the lantern competition while non-winners will receive consolation prizes.

She said the human formation of 500 personnel of Pascua 2019 star in the parade grounds of Camp Abendan highlighted the event.

The activity culminated with a fireworks display. (SunStar Zamboanga)
