A WANTED person who was about to be arrested succumbed to cardiac arrest on Tuesday, in Zamboanga City, the police said Wednesday, October 10.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the fatality as Nelson Sacay, 39, a resident of the village of Basak, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte.

She said Sacay, who is listed as the number one most wanted person in Sibuco, has standing warrant of arrest for the crimes murder and frustrated murder issued by the court of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

Galvez said Sacay succumbed to cardiac arrest late Tuesday several minutes after the latter experienced heart attack and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Before the incident, Galvez said the police of Sibuco received report that Sacay will be traveling from Basilan province to Zamboanga City.

Galvez said this prompted to Sibuco policemen to set a stakeout at the local wharf.

However, she said Sacay suffered heart attack while the policemen was about to arrest him after he disembarked from a commercial ferry that came from Basilan province.

She said Sacay expired several minutes later in the hospital. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
