Smuggled cigarettes seized in GenSan

AUTHORITIES have seized some P650,200 worth of smuggled cigarettes sold in a business establishment in General Santos City, the police reported Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

The Area Police Command-Western Mindanao (APC-WM) said the smuggled cigarettes were seized during the conduct of inspection on business establishments on Tuesday, March 28, in Fatima village, General Santos City.

The APC-WM said the confiscated smuggled cigarettes are the following and the corresponding value: 320 reams of Gajah Baru cigarettes, P192,000; 397 reams of 837 Cigarettes, P238,200; 200 reams of King cigarettes, P200,000; and 40 reams of Kruz cigarettes, P20,000.

The smuggled cigarettes were seized by joint elements of Bureau of Customs, Sub-port of General Santos City and Port of Davao together with the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (Nica)-Soccsksargen, Regional Maritime Unit-Soccsksargen in coordination Police Station 7 of the General Santos City Police Office.

The confiscated undocumented cigarettes were placed under the custody of BOC’s Enforcement Security Services for safekeeping pending proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
