Soft drinks firm exec dies in gun attack

AN EXECUTIVE of a soft drinks firm was killed in a gun attack in Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday, February 19, 2021.

Police Colonel Rexmel Reyes, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, said the incident happened around 5:50 p.m. Thursday on Estrada Street in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City.

Reyes identified the victim as Luisabel Agustin Lee, 48, the finance manager of the Pepsi Cola Bottling plant in Culianan village, this city.

Reyes said investigation showed the suspect, armed with a handgun, approached Lee’s car at the inner alley of Estrada Street and opened fire once, while the victim was driving home from work.

Reyes said the gunman ran and boarded on his motorcycle that sped towards the direction of the Tetuan Central School.

He said Lee, who sustained a gunshot wound in the chest, was rushed by her relatives to the hospital, but she was declared dead by the attending physician.

He said the Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered a deformed slug on the driver’s seat while the car’s dashboard camera was referred to the Police Anti-Cyber Crime Office-Zamboanga Peninsula for analysis.

Reyes and Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar visited the wake of Lee.

He added that all possible motives were being considered that could lead to the solution of the case. (SunStar Zamboanga)
