Storm surge damages 13 houses

THIRTEEN houses were damaged by a storm surge in Bolong, a coastal village of east Zamboanga City, an official said Thursday, January 26, 2023.

Ruben Coros, Bolong village chief, said the incident that happened Wednesday evening displaced 13 families with 76 individuals.

Coros said out of the 13 houses affected, one was totally destroyed and 12 partially damaged located in Purok 8, Bolong.

The storm surge was spawned by inclement weather condition.

The village council, which Coros chairs, provided initial assistance to the families.

Meanwhile, the City Social Welfare and Development Office provided relief assistance to the affected families on Thursday, January 26.

A team of social workers was dispatched to Bolong village to do the distribution of the family food packs, following profiling, assessment and validation of the list of affected individuals. (SunStar Zamboanga)
