Suspected ‘gun-for-hire’ killed in Zamboanga shootout

A SUSPECTED “gun-for-hire” was killed in a shootout with policemen on Wednesday morning, November 7 in Pagadian City.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said Epipanio Inso alias Yong-Yong died on the spot after engaging police with gunfire at about 8:30 a.m. at Purok Bougainvilla, Barangay San Jose.

Licup said the shootout ensued as Inso pulled a handgun and opened fire.

The police were in the area after receiving a tip “to an urgent intelligence information indicating that a crime is about to be perpetrated by a gun-for-hire personality.”

No police were killed or injured during the shootout.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered at the scene one caliber .45 pistol with 24 live ammunition; 10 live ammunition for .9-mm pistol; gun parts for caliber .45 and .9-mm pistols; one fragmentation grenade; 19 pieces of 12 Gauge Shotgun shell; and, empty shells for caliber .40 and .9-mm pistols.
