POLICEMEN and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have arrested high-value target (HVT) drug personality and seized some P170,000 worth of suspected “shabu” and an explosive in a law enforcement operation in Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Tuesday, July 16.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Jankara Ahiya, 38, who is listed as number one drug personality in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Galvez said Ahiya was arrested after authorities served a search warrant against him around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday at Purok Yellow Tops in Kitabog village, Titay, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay province.

She said the joint police and PDEA team recovered some 25 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in five big plastic sachets with an estimated worth of P170,000 and a hand grenade.

The suspect was detained at the police headquarters of Titay while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him, Galvez added. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
