Tornado hits Sibugay village

POWER transmission posts were toppled down while a store and a shanty were destroyed by a tornado, a weather phenomenon, which hit a community along the highway in Zamboanga Sibugay.

No one was reported killed or wounded during the incident that happened around 4 p.m., Sunday, November 4, at Purok 3 in the village of Maganas, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Marlon Gregorio, Buug Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief, said power supply was interrupted as the tornado toppled down three transmission posts of the Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative.

Gregorio said the store that was destroyed is owned by Remedios Azucena, 51, and the shanty be Eddie Lapuhapo, 50.

He said that some P70,000 worth of properties were destroyed during the incident. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
