GOVERNMENT forces have discovered a bomb-making factory of the Daesh-inspired Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Maguindanao, the military reported Friday, September 25.

Major General Juvymax Uy, 6th Infantry Division commander, said the troops were on combat operation when they discovered the bomb-making factory around noontime in Sitio Talpok in Salman village, Ampatuan, Maguindanao.

Uy said the troops from the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion recovered from the factory a 105-milimeter (mm) howitzer ammunition, one 60-mm mortar shell several bomb-making components like fuse, switch, blasting caps, shrapnel, and propaganda materials.

Uy said the troops immediately coordinated with the Explosive Ordnance Demolition (EOD) team for proper dispositive action.

"The accomplishment is attributable to the peace-loving people of Ampatuan who continuously support us in our campaign against terrorism," he said.

The bomb-making factory was discovered a day after three soldiers were wounded in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion also in Salman village, Ampatuan.

The troops from the 57th Infantry Battalion were on combat operation Thursday, September 24, against the BIFFs when one of them tripped on an IED fashioned out as a landmine.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), has enjoined the public to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious individuals and items in their community as "the terrorists continue to desperately sow terror due to their incapability to counter our operating troops."

"Let us work hand-in-hand to thwart any form of terrorist-initiated violence in the communities," Vinluan added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
