GOVERNMENT troops have seized two high-powered firearms and gun parts in a strike operation as the anti-terror campaign continue amid the imposition of quarantine to fight the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), a top military official said Saturday, March 21.

Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, said seized were two M-16 Armalite rifles, five short magazines, one sniper scope, and ammunition when they swooped down Thursday the residence of Macco Hadjan in Upper Kamuntayan Village, Talipao, Sulu.

Sobejana said Hadjan was arrested and placed under investigation.

He said the troops are presently battling two enemies--the terrorists and the Covid-19, which is an invisible enemy.

The Westmincom chief said they continue to collaborate with the local government units and the health sectors of the different cities and municipalities under the operational control of the command, to protect the people from Covid-19.

“We continue our military operations for the possible neutralization of the remaining terrorists to ensure that they will not take advantage of the current situation to create havoc in our area of operation,” he added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
