Troops nab 2 NPA rebels in Zamboanga del Norte

GOVERNMENT operatives arrested two suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) in a law enforcement operation in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police announced Monday, June 1.

Arrested were Jovi Sangcom, 24, and Joel Sandao, 38, of the NPA's Front Committee Feliciano A, said Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director.

Quidilla said the two were arrested in a law enforcement operation around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Delucot village, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.

Sangcom and Sandao were reportedly involved in gun running and extortion activities in the municipalities that fall under the third district of Zamboanga del Norte.

Confiscated from the two rebels were magnum caliber .22 and caliber .38 revolvers with ammunition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
