Troops nab fugitive, seize high-powered firearms

MILITARY and police operatives have arrested fugitive and seized high-powered firearms with ammunition in a law enforcement operation in an island town in Basilan province, the military said Saturday, December 7.

Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, identified the suspect as Hadji Maruan Naser, 47, who was arrested Wednesday after being served a warrant of arrest in Balanting Village, Tabuan Lasa, Basilan.

Sobejana said Naser has standing warrant of arrest for the crimes of robbery with homicide issued on November 25, 2019 by court in Isabela City.

He said seized from the possession of Naser were one Bushmaster M4 rifle with six magazines; 142 rounds of ammunition for caliber 5.56 millimeter (MM); one caliber .45 pistol with two magazines and six rounds of ammunition; and, six rounds of .9-mm pistol.
