GOVERNMENT forces have seized a harbor site of the Abu Sayyaf bandits while on combat operation in Sulu, a top military official said Monday, February 8.

Brigadier General Antonio Bautista Jr., 1101st Infantry Brigade commander, said the troops of the 2nd Special Forces Battalion (2SFBn) seized the Abu Sayyaf harbor site around 7:15 a.m. Sunday, February 7, in Danag village, Patikul, Sulu.

Bautista said the troops noted that the harbor site was hastily abandoned as they recovered three hammocks, two backpacks, personal belongings, and perishable food items.

He added that they will continue to pursue the Abu Sayyaf bandits.

He said the continuous combat operations are significantly narrowing down the mobility and resources of the Abu Sayyaf bandits, who are evading and hiding in foxholes like rats for several months already.

Last February 4, the troops of the Second Special Forces Battalion discovered to encampments also in Danag village, Patikul.

Lieutenant Colonel Jooney Busiños, 2nd Special Forces Battalion commander, said one of the encampment can accommodate up to 15 persons while the other has 10 bunkers.

Busiños said they recovered from the two encampments two backpacks, two hammocks, a cellular phone, one solar panel, one-half sack of rice, 10 gallons water, kitchen utensils, and personal belongings. (SunStar Zamboanga)
