Village exec nabbed in anti-drug sting

LAWMEN have arrested a village official in an anti-drug operation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Saturday, April 10, 2021.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested official as Guiller Buscato, Jr., 29, a councilor in the village of Calumangi, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.

Duco said Buscato was arrested in a buy-bust operation by joint police and military team around 2:15 p.m. Friday in Purok 2 in Bag-ong Valencia village, Dumingag.

Duco said seized from the arrested official were some one gram of suspected shabu worth P6,800, a cellular phone, and P1,000 marked money.

He said Buscato was temporarily detained at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Zamboanga Del Sur lock-up cell while a case for the crime in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 has been set to be filed against the official. (SunStar Zamboanga)
