Village official hurt, professor unharmed in shooting incident

A VILLAGE official was wounded while an educator was unharmed in a gun attack by two men on a motorcycle in Zamboanga City over the weekend.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victim as Sufian Unggas Hadis, 40, village chairman of Pisak-Pisal, Tabuan Lasa, Basilan.

Saddam Pacio, a professor at the Basilan State College, was not hurt.

Galvez said investigation showed the two had just boarded the vehicle of Hadis when they were shot by one of two men riding on a motorcycle at around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, August 17, in the village of Baliwasan.

Galvez said the two had come from Denis Tea Garden, where they had dinner.

Investigation is still ongoing to identify the assailants, who had fled towards the west coast. (Bong Garcia)
