AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) backed by policemen have arrested a village official in a buy-bust operation in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, an official said Friday, October 25.

Lawyer Jacqueline De Guzman, PDEA regional director, said the village official, Saripol Amil, 32, was arrested around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, in the village of F.L. Peña, Kabasalan.

De Guzman said Amil, a councilor in the village of Canacan, Kabasalan, was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover PDEA agent in exchange for P500.

Seized from Amil were five grams of shabu with an estimated value of P34,000, a motorcycle and P500 marked money.

De Guzman said Amil was detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed against him. (SunStar Zamboanga)
