DEPARTMENT of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) regional director Maria Teresa Camba is calling the village officials with fiber optic internet connection to open digital hubs to cater to online workers in their respective villages.

Camba said they are willing to assist in providing computers, internet connection, and the training to villages who wish to establish digital hubs.

She said they are currently in talks with the village officials who have the potential to open digital hubs and where the program is feasible.

Camba said the opening of digital hubs provides job opportunities for those who wish to work or who are already working online such as English teachers.

She added that a strong internet connection is needed as online teaching uses both audio and video streaming and the center must be open until 11 p.m.

Some of the 1,000 online English teachers in this city utilize the digital hub of the DICT regional office while the rest are home base, she said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
