THE Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) vowed to continuously support the vaccination program by way of safely transporting vaccines and medical supplies to the island provinces and far-flung towns in the Western and Central Mindanao areas.

On Sunday, December 12, the Westmincom successfully transported vaccines to the provinces of Basilan and Tawi-Tawi, utilizing one Special Boarding Unit (SBU) of the Philippine Navy.

Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario Jr., commander of Westmincom, said Monday, December 13, that a total of 17 boxes of syringe and 21 boxes of Pneumovax were safely transported to the province of Tawi-Tawi and 20 boxes of similar vaccine to Basilan.

Rosario said the vaccines were properly turned over to the personnel of the Integrated Provincial Health Office of the two provinces.

"We are here to allow the vaccines to reach their destination safely as directed by our Commander-in-Chief. We also provide security to protect the inoculators and the vaccines from the malefactors," Rosario said.

He said that all the land, air, and water assets of Westmincom are made available for the transportation of vaccines and medical supplies for the entire duration of the vaccination campaign.

He added that the troops are also readily deployed to aid in the vaccination drive and to provide security during the process. (SunStar Zamboanga)
