ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar on Thursday, May 30, 2019 welcomed the appointment of Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla as new Police Regional Office (PRO) Zamboanga Peninsula director.

Salazar issued the statement as she asked Quidilla to continue supporting the anti-drug campaign in this city.

At the same time, Salazar expressed gratitude to Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis Licup for his eight-month service in the region and Zamboanga City.

Licup’s term was highlighted by the successful conduct of the May 13 mid-term elections and his support to the drive against illegal drugs, a priority of President Rodrigo Duterte, Salazar said.

She expressed hope that Quidilla will continue providing the same degree of support to the campaign against illegal drugs.

Quidilla belongs to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) “Tagapagtangol Class of 1987.”

He served as the deputy regional director for administration of PRO-Mimaropa prior to his assignment as PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director.

Licup, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Hinirang Class of 1987,” was reassigned to the PNP national headquarters as the acting deputy director of Directorate for Personnel and Records Management.

Meanwhile, Salazar cited the need for the Philippine National Police (PNP) to review and increase the maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE) budget to complement the equipment and transportation facilities being provided by the local government.

While the city government supports the police through various vehicles and other equipment, the police have limited budget for the maintenance of such facilities, she said. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
