THE Zamboanga City Government released on Tuesday, January 21, some P214,000 worth of financial assistance to victims of a fire incident that hit the village of Campo Islam on October 20, 2019.

Acting Mayor Rommel Agan spearheaded the distribution of the cash assistance to the 57 families displaced by the fire during simple rites held at City Hall.

Agan said the cash aid is in addition to the relief assistance provided by the City Government to the fire victims earlier.

Agan said the amount will help alleviate the plight of the affected families.

The grant of cash assistance is facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office following the conduct of assessment and validation of names of victims.

The amount given to each family was based on the damage incurred as stipulated in a resolution of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. (SunStar Zamboanga)
