City lauds security forces for peaceful Undas

THE local government extended its gratitude to Zamboanga City's security forces, enforcement agencies, personnel, and force multipliers and volunteers for the peaceful observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

"On behalf of the city ,ayor, we extend our thanks to all members of the security sector and volunteers who helped ensure the orderly observance of Todos Los Santos y Difuntos," acting Mayor Rommel Agan said.

In his report, Zamboanga City Police Office Spokesperson Edwin Duco declared Oplan Kaluluwa for 2019 a security success for the city, having encountered no problems in the implementation of security during the two-day holiday observance of All Saints' and All Soulss Day.

Security forces deployed some 2,000 personnel over the weekend.

An additional 400 officers and ranks were augmented to the security force from the Philippine Public Safety College.

Following the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day observance, Agan reiterated the local government's call for calm, vigilance, and in particular, caution when it comes to sharing and spreading unverified messages on social media.

This came after unverified messages regarding security and security threats to the city circulated online last week. (SunStar Zamboanga)
