Zamboanga cops nab 2 in anti-drug operations

A JEEPNEY dispatcher and another person were arrested while some P7,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) were seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, the police said Saturday, January 18.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Abdulmannan Tirajan, 41, jeepney dispatcher, and Rick Abad, 45.

Duco said Tirajan was arrested in a drug bust by the personnel of the Police Station 5 around 3:30 p.m. Friday along Thomas Claudio Street in Barangay Zone 3 Village, this city.

Seized from Tirajan’s possession were some P4,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 12 heat-sealed plastic sachets and P200 marked money, he said.

Duco said Abad was arrested by the operatives of the Police Station 3 in a drug bust around 3:25 p.m. Friday at Sitio Kalang in Sangali Village, this city.

He said recovered from the possession of Abad were some P3,000 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money.

Suspects were detained while formal charges are set to be filed against them, Duco added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
