Zamboanga Kite Festival postponed

THE Zamboanga City Government announced that the scheduled Zamboanga Kite Festival 2022, Sunday, June 19, is postponed to June 26.

It was announced earlier that the local government is holding a kite festival for the first time in two to help promote tourism industry of this city.

Part of the festival is kite-flying competition at the scenic Paseo del Mar.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar advised all participants to submit their individual entry form at the Public Information Office in City Hall from June 20 to 25.

The Kite Festival is a yearly activity of the City Government, through the City Tourism Office, but was suspended due to the health pandemic.

There are two main categories in the competition: Teen (13 to 17 years old); and, Adult (18 years old and above).

Special awards will be given according to two kite categories: the traditional kite and the figure kite.

The traditional kite is the 2-D or two-faced kite that comes in any shape whereas the figure kite is the 3-D kite with a theme and comes in realistic shapes.

There are three major awards for each category (Young and Adult): first, second, and third prize.

A participant shall register only one kite as entry to the competition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
