Consolacion mayor’s husband surrenders unlicensed gun

CEBU -- The husband of Consolacion town Mayor Teresa Alegado surrendered his unlicensed firearm to the police on Thursday, August 3.

Nilo Alegado turned over his caliber .45 handgun to the police through his son Alfonso.

Alfonso's wife, Lalaine, also surrendered her .9mm handgun to the authorities on the same day.

Consolacion police will keep the guns while the Alegados are in the process of renewing the permits.

In the past nine days, two public officials of Medellin, Cebu surrendered their unlicensed firearms, following the arrest of Medellin Councilor Ricardo Ramirez for keeping a cache of unlicensed high-powered firearms on July 26.

On July 28, village chief of Kawit, Medellin,Oscar Banzon, a former priest, surrendered his .22 rifle.

Medellin Councilor Leonardo Montilla, on July 31, also surrendered his unlicensed handgun. (KAL/SunStar Philippines)
