Metrobank awards 2017 outstanding Pinoys

THE Metrobank Foundation Inc. (MBFI) has announced on Thursday, August 10, the winners of the 2017 Search for Outstanding Filipinos.

Among the awardees are teachers, doctors, and members of the Philippine police and military.

MBFI said, through their Facebook page, that the accomplishments of the awardees have inspired and influenced their peers as well as the people in their respective communities.


Doria said, in an interview with SunStar Cebu, that he was thankful to receive the award.

He added that the cash prize will be used for his children's education, advocacy, and his brainchild program, the Oplan Pokemon.

"It will go to the education of my two children and the 36 foster students of the Cebu City Police Office," Doria said.

Oplan Pokémon was named after a popular augmented reality game, Pokémon Go, in which players try to catch virtual “pocket monsters”.

The ten awardees will join the ranks of the 645 outstanding servants recognized by the foundation since 1985, MBFI said.

The awardees will receive a cash incentive of P1 million, a gold medallion, and a trophy.

MBFI started accepting nominations for the award since April 7 this year.

The awardees are selected under a component search program and the nominees must have exhibited good moral character and must not have been charged guilty in any administrative or criminal case. (OPM/JOB/SunStar Philippines)
