THE island of Mactan is chock-full of resorts; it’s not called a ‘resort island’ for nothing, after all. But while options are aplenty, Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark stands out because it’s more than just a resort. With a sweet lineup of amenities and activities to do in the property, Jpark is a destination in itself. For anyone planning a getaway soon, whether it’s with the kids during school break or with the squad on a quick vacay, here are 10 must-dos in Jpark:

Partake of a sumptuous feast at any of the nine dining outlets.

With each restaurant specializing in a different cuisine, hop from one to another for a worldly culinary adventure without leaving the resort premises. To name a few, there’s Maru for Korean, Ching Hai for Chinese, Nonki for Japanese and Olive for Mediterranean.

• Fill your itinerary with activities right in the resort.

There is never a dull moment when staying at Jpark as there is an activity for everyone to enjoy: stretch those muscles in aqua zumba, feed the fishes with the kids or play golf with your beau.

• Take a turn at The Palace Casino’s games.

A significant percentage of Jpark’s clientele are international guests, whom The Palace Casino proudly caters to as an establishment that is for foreign passport holders only. Aside from the standard card games, the casino also has VIP rooms and nightly live entertainment at the lobby.

• Spoil the little ones on fun at the Kids Club.

There’s a playhouse, building bricks, puzzles and board games to keep them entertained even outside the water. Throughout the day, they can also participate in activities such as painting and cooking.

• Soak up the sun at the beach.

Get up close with marine life at Jpark’s private beach where you can snorkel from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beach towels and snorkeling gear are readily available at the counter should one need them.

• Have a splashin’ good time in the waterpark.

Being the five-star resort that it is, the U.S. firm-designed waterpark is without a doubt one of the highlights of Jpark. It has one main swimming pool, five themed pools and three exhilarating slides, one of which is the iconic Space Bowl, a spiraling bowl slide that flushes you into a six-foot deep pool.

• Squeeze in some work at the Executive Lounge and Business Center.

At the Business Center, one can use the personal computers, have documents printed or faxed and even book travel arrangements. VIP guests can also enjoy a little privacy in the Executive Lounge which has free-flowing refreshments all day.

• Celebrate a momentous occasion in Jpark’s function rooms.

Whether it’s a corporate party or a debut, the massive Triton ballroom can comfortably accommodate up to 1,000 guests. In total, the resort has a ballroom plus the foyer for events, function rooms and two boardrooms for meetings.

• Pamper yourself at the Fitness and Wellness Center.

Split into two parts, the Fitness and Wellness Center is comprised of a spa and a gym. Here, one can get a massage from the Japanese shiatsu to the Philippine hilot or burn a few calories with the gym’s modern equipment.

• Enjoy the salty waters with Marine Boy Water Sports Center.

The center offers fun water-based activities such as jet skiing, wakeboarding, scuba diving and banana boat rides. If one wants to explore the beautiful neighboring islands of Mactan, packages for island hopping are also available.
