THE Mandaue City Government has announced the suspension of classes in all levels of public and private schools in the city starting Friday, March 13, 2020 until further notice.
Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes in a statement Friday, said the move was in accordance to Proclamation No. 922 s. 2020 of President Rodrigo Duterte declaring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the Philippines due to the national threat and confirmed local transmission cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
"As the mayor of Mandaue City, I, hereby declare the suspension of classes and all school activities in all levels of public and private schools in the entire City of Mandaue starting today, March 13, 2020 until further notice," Jonas said.
The mayor has advised citizens to always practice precautionary measures.
"Citizens are further advised to practice daily preventive measures such as frequent hand washing, use of alcohol-based sanitizers, covering of mouth with tissue while coughing or sneezing, refraining from touching one’s face, staying at home when sick, seeking medical assistance during manifestation of symptoms, getting enough sleep, social distancing and eating a well and balanced diet," he said.
The announcement came hours after Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella has suspended classes in all levels, both public and private schools, in Cebu City starting March 16 to March 28.
