POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas Director Debold Sinas said all police officers who were on duty when Ronda Mayor Mariano Blanco III was gunned down in his office including Ronda Police Station Chief Jay R Soto Palcon, have been relieved from service starting Thursday, September 6.

Blanco was shot dead by four unidentified assailants past 1 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, in his office at the town hall, which is just a stone's throw away from the Ronda Police Station.

"The chief of police and everyone on duty that time will be placed under investigation. The relief is not about the late response of the police. The aim of the relief is to get their statements about the incident," said Sinas.

Sinas said that liaisons have been established with the family to check most probable motives and targets. The drug personalities related to the Mayor will also be checked. (JOB/KAL)
