A MAGNITUDE 6 earthquake shook Surigao del Sur and some parts of Mindanao and Visayas Monday morning, November 16, 2020.
The tectonic earthquake struck at 6:37 a.m. and the epicenter was located 33 kilometers southeast of San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. It had a depth of 54 kilometers.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that tremor was felt in the following areas:
Intensity 6 -- Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur
Intensity 5 -- San Agustin, City of Bislig, Lianga, and Lingig, Surigao del Sur; Bayugan City, Rosario, Talacogon, San Francisco, and Santa Josefa, Agusan del Sur
Intensity 4 -- Bayabas, Borobo, Cagwait, Lanuza, Marihatag, and Tago, Surigao Del Sur; Laak, Mabini, Maco, Maragusan, Mawab, Monkayo, Nabunturan, and Pantukan, Davao de Oro; Butuan City
Intensity 3 -- Carmen, Madrid, and Tandag City, Surigao del Sur; Cagayan de Oro City; Tagoloan, Villanueva, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental; Mati City, Davao Oriental; Tagum City, Davao del Norte; San Francisco, and San Ricardo, Southern Leyte; Socorro, Surigao del Norte
Intensity 2 -- Carrascal, Cortes, and Tagbina, Surigao del Sur; El Salvador City, Initao, Lugait, Manticao, Misamis Oriental; Davao City; Dapa, General Luna, Mainit, and Surigao City, Surigao del Norte; San Jose, Dinagat Islands; Panabo City, Davao del Norte; Pintuyan, Southern Leyte
Intensity 1 -- Iligan City

Phivolcs said damage and aftershocks are expected.
The Surigao del Sur quake happened a day after a moderate tremor, at magnitude 5, also rocked Masbate.
