THE three suspected extremists, including a sister of Abdullah and Omarkhayam Maute, arrested by Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sunday, June 18, at the port of Iloilo have been brought to Cagayan de Oro City, Monday morning.
Colonel Andres Centino, spokesperson of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) Martial Law Command Center (MLCC), said the three suspected extremists, arrested on board a Manila-bound 2GO vessel, are under the custody of the PCG who will also handle the filing of charges.
One of the three has been identified in various news reports as Miks Jadid Romato who reportedly had an amputated leg.
Centino said the three have not been brought to the Army’s Camp Edilberto Evangelista where most of the previously arrested suspected Maute members were brought for inquest proceedings prior to their transfer to a detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig.
“Wala sa Camp Evang ang mga nahuli sa Iloilo, naa sa coastguard,” Centino said.
On Monday, Mohammad Noaim Maute, also known as Abu Jadid and said to be a bomb maker of the Maute Terror Group, has been charged with rebellion.
Jadid, arrested last June 15 in Barangay Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, was nabbed by authorities following a tip from a concerned citizen.
Centino said Jadid was charged after undergoing inquest proceedings in Camp Evangelista, Patag, this city, over the weekend.
The spokesperson said they are awaiting guidance from the Defense and Justice departments if Abu Jadid will be transferred to Manila.
“Wala pay guidance as to i-transport ba o hindi so for now sa CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) muna siya depende sa guidance,” Centino said.
Abu Jadid was among the terror suspects on the arrest orders issued by the Department of National Defense and signed by martial law administrator secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
Said to be a cousin of the Maute brothers responsible for sowing terror in Marawi City, the suspected bomber or bomb maker blended with evacuees fleeing the conflict-stricken community and sneaked into the city using a fake identification card under the name Alfaiz Mamintal.
Abu Jadid had lived in hotels and several rented houses until his arrest last Thursday at Sta. Cruz, Macasandig, this city.
