Aquino won’t meet NDF chair

MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III will not meet the visiting leader of the National Democratic Front (NDF), Luis Jalandoni.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Aquino remained steadfast in his requirement to have a peace agreement first before meeting the NDF official.

"The President already said before that it would be better that a signed peace agreement will come first," Valte reiterated.

The Palace official noted that Jalandoni's trip to Manila is a good sign in the likely resumption of peace negotiation between government and NDF.

Jalandoni is in a two-week vacation in the country, following the lifting of his hold departure order last week. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
