THE Bacolod City Council joins the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) to lead the city’s observance of the International Women’s Day on March 8, with a theme #Balanceforbetter.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Cindy Rojas, was approved during the regular session on Wednesday, February 27.

Rojas said Filipino women have been active in the struggle for national independence, for civil liberties, for equality of the sexes, and for human rights.

She said the women are considered to be more vulnerable to abuse.

She added that President Corazon Aquino on March 1, 1988 issued Proclamation No. 224, which declared the first week of March 8, 1988 and every year thereafter as Women’s Rights and International Peace Day. (MAP)
